Lecturer and Director of the Journalism Program\u00a0Sissel\u00a0McCarthy\u00a0attended this year\u2019s NAMLE conference to give a talk about news literacy education. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>She shared her MEDIA 211 lesson, \u201cInformation Neighborhoods,\u201d during a curriculum roundtable event and taught fellow educators how to help students understand the difference between journalism and all other types of media.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>NAMLE, which stands for National Association for Media Literacy Education, hosted its 12<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0annual conference in Washington, D.C. earlier this summer, and offered sessions like \u201cLet\u2019s Retire the Term \u2018Fake News\u2019: Teaching a New Misinformation Vocabulary\u201d and\u00a0\u201cDigital Forensics: How to Hook Students on Fact-Checking.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>McCarthy&nbsp;also attended a hands-on pre-conference session at the Newseum called &#8220;Real Media Literacy for a Fake News World\u201d where she and other
