But then you need to focus and get the work done.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Students in the same class also recently visited the offices of media organization Bloomberg to talk to Mindy Massucci, head of global context for its new Twitter-exclusive news network <a href=\"https:\/\/mail.hunter.cuny.edu\/owa\/redir.aspx?C=rTcN1MFwTQ-EdO0p3ayh21AmQDcrX6fB9Q2SKVTeNHWFMoPfHkTWCA..&amp;URL=https%3a%2f%2ftwitter.com%2ftictoc%3fref_src%3dtwsrc%255Egoogle%257Ctwcamp%255Eserp%257Ctwgr%255Eauthor\">TicToc<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Veteran producer Massucci has teamed with Catherine Taibi, formerly head of social for Bloomberg, who also spoke to the students, to create this new outlet.<\/p>\n<p>Massucci explained that Bloomberg&#8217;s team of social curators \u2014 the social velocity team \u2014 not only follow what&#8217;s trending, but filter for authenticity with a formula for verification.<\/p>\n<p>Each report must have at least two confirmed sources that the Bloomberg network of reporters and editors trust; items are then color-coded red for B.S. (a technical term), yellow for not yet confirmed, and green for credible and ok to go.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I&#8217;d rather be the last one to the story and be the only one who got it right,&#8221; said Massucci.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Students in Prof. Pam Frederick&#8217;s News Literacy class toured two major news outlets in November.
