Hunter Professor’s BuzzFeed News Story Highlighted During Impeachment

Journalism Program Professor Emmanuel Felton’s BuzzFeed News investigation into the Capitol Police Department during the Jan. 6 insurrection was highlighted during President Donald Trump’s second impeachment hearing.

Rep. Jamie Raskin, the lead impeachment manager, cited the article when he talked about the racist attacks officers faced as they protected the Capitol.

An award-winning journalist, Felton is back at Hunter this semester to teach MEDPL 372 Investigative Reporting again. Students in this semester’s class have hit the ground running and are taking on some of the biggest issues facing New York and the nation. Using the reporting skills they’ve already learned, some students are looking into the conditions in New York City’s public housing developments and homeless shelters. Others are looking into New York City School Safety agents, the force that polices the city’s public schools.
