Time to Apply for the 2021 Pulitzer Fellowship

The Journalism Program is now accepting applications for the 2021 Pulitzer Center Reporting Fellowship. The Pulitzer Center typically supports in-depth, high impact reporting on overlooked topics of global importance, but with the pandemic restricting travel abroad, it is also funding domestic or international stories that can be told without much travel.

The Hunter student selected for the summer reporting fellowship in 2021 will still receive funding and support to cover an under-reported global or domestic story.

Professor Sissel McCarthy hosted a Zoom session on Dec. 2 so that students could learn about the new focus from the Pulitzer Center’s Outreach Assistant Kayla Edwards and former fellows, Audrey Henson and Kadia Goba.

In 2019, Henson traveled to Japan to report on dementia treatments. The previous year, Kadia Goba won the grant to report on environmental sustainability issues in Sierra Leone and published her story in Pacific Standard magazine.

The deadline to submit this year’s application is Friday, Feb. 26.

You can download the application from the Pulitzer Center Campus Consortium here.
