Company Description

thisistheBronX.info is the borough’s first-ever “everything Bronx” web portal featuring Bronx news, Bronx events, Bronx directories, and features. Among the products are thisistheBronX TODAY, a popular daily email newsletter, and thisistheBronX TV, a periodic short video series.

Journalism/new media writers will work closely with the borough’s most well-known TV talk-show host and journalist. The upside and growth potential in this position is considerable.

Job Description

Summarize preselected news stories and events. Also, the right candidates will provide original content, cover feature stories and assist with simply produced news video shoots. The tasks can be tailored to fit a schedule: in the afternoons, evenings, or even at night.

Qualifications: Basic computer competency, knowledge of the Internet, writing proficiency and interest in local news, journalism and media. Familiarity with the WordPress content management system is preferred, but will train an otherwise qualified candidate. Interest in, familiarity with, and passion for the Bronx is very helpful.

Compensation:  These positions are intended as internships (credit bearing as applicable), but there are growth opportunities for the right people. In addition, these are excellent positions in which to develop skills in journalism, writing, original story coverage, basic video production and new media.

Journalism/new media writers receive editing support, guidance, and mentorship where appropriate.

How to Apply

The position is available now.  Applicants should contact Gary Axelbank at 917-576-0341 or gary@thisisthebronx.info as soon as possible.
