Founded by Joe Ricketts in November 2009 as “Digital Network Associates”, DNAinfo.com began by offering online, hyperlocal coverage for New York City and online coverage for Chicago launched in November 2012. In December 2013, DNAinfo.com launched a print version coverage by the same name, DNAinfo.com. Its holding company, Hugo Enterprises, LLC, a Nebraska Limited Liability Company, is a holding company for various businesses and ventures owned and operated by Ricketts. Hugo Enterprises, LLC, is the holding company for New Media News, LLC, formed as a Delaware entity on May 2, 2008, and dba DNAinfo. Its registered address New Media News is in Denver, Colorado. The operational and editorial offices for DNAinfo.com are in New York and Chicago. DNAinfo is also a registered trademark.
The inspiration, funding, and strategic vision for DNAinfo.com come from entrepreneur and Ameritrade founder Joe Ricketts. Ricketts established DNAinfo.com on the following beliefs:
