National Lesbian and Gay Journalism Association Training Camp

Company Description

Founded in 1990, NLGJA is an organization of journalists, media professionals, educators and students working from within the news industry to foster fair and accurate coverage of LGBT issues. NLGJA opposes all forms of workplace bias and provides professional development to its members.

Fellowship Description

Each year, NLGJA chooses 12 students from across the country to participate in its training project at its national convention, which provides real-world experience to undergraduate and graduate students who are considering a career in journalism. To apply, students fill out an application, attaching the requested items. NLGJA will pay for the selected students’ convention attendance, airfare, food and hotel at the convention site.

Our Journalism Concentration & Minor

The Hunter College journalism program is offered as a concentration or a minor within the Department of Film & Media Studies. Its curriculum is built around production courses in journalism and analytical courses in media studies. Learn more about our course requirements.
