Interactive Design Developer<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum, one of New York City’s most original educational institutions, uses history and technology to inspire innovation and leadership. A collection of technological firsts informs visitors about modern advancements, showcases what is possible and encourages people to dream. The Intrepid Museum has delivered high-quality education programming to hundreds of thousands of students, teachers and lifelong learners for over 25 years and its Access Initiative continues to respond to the growing need for quality Museum experiences for all audiences of all abilities.<\/p>\n

The position of Interactivity Design Developer is responsible for the design, development and installation of temporary and permanent interactive exhibit elements. The Interactivity Design Developer is a multi-faceted creative partner involved in both physical and technology based interactive elements. The Interactivity Design Developer works with a variety of software programs in the development and creation of structural, electrical, AV, graphic, illustration, programming, and interactive digital media.<\/p>\n

Qualifications:<\/p>\n

* \u00a0\u00a0Familiarity with human-centered design methodologies for end users.
\n* \u00a0\u00a0A strong understanding of the connectivity between design and functionality.
\n* \u00a0\u00a0A basic background and documented ability to code in a variety of platforms.
\n* \u00a0\u00a0Ability to write clean and maintainable code.
\n* \u00a0\u00a0Must demonstrate a competency in Unity development using C# while creating applications in Unity 3D.
\n* \u00a0\u00a0Uses conventional and computer-assisted design \/ drafting (CAD\/CAM software) to develop part layouts and assemblies for Interactive exhibit elements.
\n* \u00a0\u00a0Quickly and accurately complete shop drawings in AutoCAD.
\n* \u00a0\u00a0Utilizes knowledge of various tools, design and fabrication practices, and mathematics and building materials to create prototypes for public testing and team reviews.
\n* \u00a0\u00a0Makes final drawings, checks dimensions of parts, finish materials, parts interfaces and assemblies in preparation for fabrication.
\n* \u00a0\u00a0Creates bill of materials based on shop drawings and site conditions.
\n* \u00a0\u00a0Maintains an organized file system for production drawings, program files, graphics and as-built documents.
\n* \u00a0\u00a0Provide pricing information for exhibition elements and labor as required.
\n* \u00a0\u00a0Must have a minimum of four years’ experience or equivalent in Exhibition Interactivity Design and Production.
\n* \u00a0\u00a0Must be a self-starter with excellent problem solving skills.
\n* \u00a0\u00a0Must be able to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
\n* \u00a0\u00a0Must be able to modify work hours on short notice to meet deadlines.
\n* \u00a0\u00a0Able to perform the job safely and comply with company safety rules.
\n* \u00a0\u00a0Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
\n* \u00a0\u00a0Read and interpret documents such as construction drawing, safety manuals, maintenance instructions and procedures manuals, and to write routine reports, operating instructions and correspondences.
\n* \u00a0\u00a0Must be able to speak effectively before other team members to communicate designs, progress, concepts, delays, solutions.
\n* \u00a0\u00a0Must be able to read blueprints, interpret and translate to physical structures.
\n* \u00a0\u00a0Performs other duties as required by management.<\/p>\n

Qualified candidates will have a minimum of Bachelor’s degree in interactive design, new media design, or related design field. One or more years of UX design experience Strong working knowledge of Photoshop and Illustrator. Create, read, and interpret design and program documents. Maintain a working and current knowledge of all design software required for essential duties. Programming experience in Objective C, C++Strong working knowledge of HTML 5, CSS3, and JavaScript\/jQueryMaintain yearly certification in all Equipment and PPE usage as required by Intrepid.
