Project Description: <\/strong><\/p>\n

In 1959, Francis Goldin was part of a group, the Cooper Square Committee, which formed to stop Robert Moses from building an expressway through the Lower East Side.\u00a0 The highway would have wiped out Tribeca, the East Village, Little Italy and part of Chinatown.\u00a0 Goldin and the group succeeded in stopping Moses, but their subsequent efforts to preserve low income housing for the neighborhood residents took a total of 50 years. By 2013 they had established a unique, community-based housing plan which is becoming the basis for a national model. Fran is a compelling centerpiece of the film as a natural leader, organizer and charismatic story-teller.<\/p>\n

Intern Duties<\/strong>:<\/p>\n

We are building a data base of archival footage and stills, which needs constant updating.\u00a0 Knowledge of File Maker Pro and Excel is necessary.\u00a0 The intern would also be involved in doing on-line archival research; helping to maintain the Final Cut Pro project; exporting, compressing and uploading sequences; downloading audio and video files; and putting together brief segments for screening purposes.\u00a0 We would expect the intern to follow the project to its completion, probably by summer of 2016.<\/p>\n

Hours:<\/strong><\/p>\n

One day a week on a regular basis.\u00a0 If the internship is connected to course credit, we can expand the number of hours.<\/p>\n
