If you’ve ever wanted to understand how your favorite productions, artists, or organizations operate, the Introduction to Arts Management (URBS 203)<\/strong> class is for you, and there are still a few seats left for the Fall! You do not <\/strong>have to be enrolled in the Arts Management and Leadership Certificate<\/a> program to participate!<\/p>\n\n\n\n This class is a great way for students curious about a career in the arts to learn what it takes to succeed in the industry. As a former student, this course introduced me to a world of possibilities and inspired me to pursue my dreams with the knowledge it takes to achieve them. The weekly visiting speaker series puts students right in front of working artists, producers, directors, and entrepreneurs, sharing stories and advice. Students will also have the opportunity to attend outings to On and Off-Broadway performances, art museums, concert halls, and more. It is an all-around stellar class that I cannot recommend enough! <\/p>\n\n\n\n In this course students will explore the state of art communities and arts organizations in the United States. Students will learn how contemporary art is produced, performed, and taught. They will learn the basic principles of arts management, including the differences between for-profit arts entertainment companies and nonprofit arts organizations. The class will host visiting guest speakers who are leaders in the fields of theater, visual art, dance, film, music, and literary publishing. The class includes networking opportunities with arts leaders, museum visits, and live performing arts outings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
