I\u2019m reaching out to share an internship opportunity for students through Rising Earth, a NYC-based nonprofit that connects young people to the natural world through hands-on ecological learning, creative practice, and place-based experiences across the city.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
We are currently accepting applications for Rooted in Sunset, an 11-month internship for high school students and college-aged youth during the 2026\u20132027 academic year. Participants are paid $18 an hour for their contributions. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Spend time in parks across the city learning about plants, fungi, and the seasonal rhythms of urban ecosystems\u2014like drinking elderberry tea after meeting elder trees and learning their history and uses. From medicinal \u201cweeds\u201d growing through sidewalk cracks to towering tulip trees, you\u2019ll build a deeper connection with the natural world around you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Together, we\u2019ll turn what we learn into creative cohort projects like digital plant maps, murals, botanical theater, and soil testing for youth-led land proposals. Participants will also help lead immersive public events that invite others into connection with nature.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This program is a strong fit for students who are curious about nature, enjoy hands-on learning, or are interested in art, science, community work, or outdoor experiences.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
