‘Street Heroines’ Feature Documentary, Seeking Spanish or Portuguese Speaking Assistant Editors
The first-of-its-kind documentary to capture the global outcry of female street artists navigating the male-dominated movement since its birth in 1970s New York City, ‘Street Heroines’ follows TooFly, Magrela, and Fusca – three Latina street artists from New York City, São Paulo, and Mexico City. This film explores their efforts to drive social change in contemporary landscapes plagued by sexism, racism, and economic inequality.
Weaving together their stories along with interviews from pioneering artists Lady Pink, Claw Money, Nina Pandolfo, Swoon, Lady AIko, Gilf! and iconic graffiti photographer Martha Cooper, ‘Street Heroines’ presents a never-before-seen look at the intersection of art and politics through the personal stories of multigenerational women in the global street art movement.
To date, we have shown an 18-minute work-in-progress at the Smithsonian American Art Museum, and at the Moniker Art Fair in Brooklyn and London. At this juncture, we are looking for a couple of bilingual assistant editors to work over the holiday break as part of an edit prep for the feature-length version of the film. Here is what we’re looking for specifically:
- One Spanish-speaking and one Portuguese-speaking assistant editor to create subtitles for documentary footage
- Interns will be provided with Quick Time files and transcripts by the production team and will need to create subtitles with time code in Premiere Pro
- Approximately 20 hours of Spanish footage and 20 hours of Portuguese footage needed to be delivered by February 2019
